2025 Kia Carnival: Hybrid Powertrain and Enhanced Features Unveiled

Posted on February 11, 2024February 11, 2024 by thecruisectrlr

Kia’s unveiling at the Chicago Auto Show brought surprising updates to the 2025 Carnival, enhancing its appeal in the minivan segment. Initially perceived as a routine refresh, Kia’s announcement of a hybrid powertrain added a new dimension to the Carnival’s competitiveness against rivals like the Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Pacifica. The hybrid variant adopts the trusted turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine coupled with a 72-horsepower electric motor, promising a combined output of 242 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. While fuel economy figures are yet to be disclosed, expectations align with the efficiency of Kia’s existing hybrid models, potentially rivaling the Sienna’s impressive 36 mpg. For traditionalists, the V6 engine option remains available, ensuring a range of powertrain choices to suit diverse preferences.

Stylistically, the 2025 Carnival receives subtle updates, including refreshed headlights, grille, and bumper designs, complemented by new wheel options inspired by Kia’s latest lineup. Inside, notable enhancements feature a modernized infotainment system with dual 12.3-inch screens and rear entertainment displays, alongside convenience upgrades like seven USB-C ports and phone-as-a-key functionality. Safety and driving assistance technologies are also elevated, with Kia’s latest highway driving assist system and automated lane-change capabilities.

Scheduled for a summer release, the 2025 Carnival will offer five trim levels, with the hybrid variant available across most trims except the base LX. Pricing and precise fuel economy details are anticipated closer to the launch date, promising an exciting evolution in the minivan landscape.
