Toyota Unveils Next-Gen Audio Multimedia System in 2026 RAV4

Toyota is set to revolutionize its in-car entertainment and connectivity experience with the latest version of its Toyota Audio Multimedia system, debuting in the 2026 RAV4. The updated system boasts faster performance, enhanced graphics, and increased connectivity features, setting a new standard for the automotive industry.

Smarter Tech and 5G Connectivity

The 2026 RAV4 will be the first Toyota vehicle to integrate 5G network capability via AT&T, providing improved coverage and speed for connected features. The system is built on an open-source Automotive Grade Linux platform and incorporates Toyota’s Arene software toolkit, enabling smoother over-the-air updates and enhanced safety and connectivity features over time.

A More Intuitive Interface

The new multimedia interface features a redesigned home screen with sharper graphics and faster touch response. Drivers can now personalize their layouts with widget-style controls for navigation, drive modes, audio, and weather. A new Quick Control Menu provides direct access to frequently used settings, such as Bluetooth, screen brightness, and driver-assistance features. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, ensuring seamless connectivity for drivers.

The multimedia system’s updated interface is shown in the image below, highlighting its new features and capabilities.

Faster “Hey Toyota” Voice Assistant

Toyota’s updated voice assistant responds more quickly thanks to new on-device processing, reducing dependence on cloud connectivity. The voice assistant can be activated by saying “Hey Toyota,” “Hi Toyota,” or “Okay Toyota,” and can perform various tasks, such as navigation, climate control, and audio settings. The system can even perform basic calculations and provide trip information without needing to connect online.

Navigation in the Digital Cluster

For the first time, turn-by-turn navigation can appear directly in the RAV4’s digital gauge cluster. With an active Drive Connect subscription, drivers also get real-time traffic updates, destination assistance, and access to live agents. This feature enhances the overall driving experience, providing drivers with essential information at a glance.

Built-In Dashcam and EV Tools

A new Drive Recorder feature now comes standard, using the RAV4’s exterior cameras to record events automatically or manually. Footage can be viewed on the infotainment screen or saved to a USB drive. Plug-in hybrid models also gain a new EV Domain screen that helps manage charging schedules, view range maps with charging stops, and monitor state of charge. These tools are also integrated into the Toyota app for remote access, providing owners with greater control over their vehicles.

More Remote and Streaming Options

Toyota’s Remote Connect app now controls more features, including headlights, hazard lights, windows, and the rear liftgate. On the entertainment side, SiriusXM 360L and Spotify streaming are integrated into the system, allowing users to listen via the vehicle’s Wi-Fi connection without using mobile data. This feature enhances the overall driving experience, providing drivers with a range of entertainment options.

The 2026 RAV4 will lead Toyota’s rollout of the next-gen multimedia platform, which will eventually expand to more vehicles across the lineup. This update marks a significant step forward in Toyota’s commitment to providing drivers with a more connected, intuitive, and enjoyable driving experience.
