Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary Event Teases Possible Hybrid AWD Model: What to Expect

Posted on April 20, 2024April 20, 2024 by thecruisectrlr

Celebrating its iconic Mustang’s 60th anniversary, Ford hosted a special event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway earlier this week. Among the highlights was the unveiling of the 2025 Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary Package, along with opportunities for fans to meet Ford Performance drivers, enjoy ride-alongs, and admire various pony cars up close. However, Ford Authority recently reported a potential teaser for the upcoming S650-generation Shelby GT500 at the event, along with hints at a Ford Mustang Hybrid all-wheel drive variant.

During a livestream of the event, viewers caught a glimpse of what appeared to be an S550-generation Mustang emitting tire smoke, not just from the rear tires but seemingly from the front as well. This could suggest the presence of an all-wheel drive system, possibly hinting at a Ford Mustang Hybrid model. While details remain scarce, such a hybrid configuration would align with industry trends, akin to GM’s Corvette E-Ray, which combines an electric motor powering the front wheels with a traditional ICE engine at the rear.

Although previous rumors suggested that a Ford Mustang Hybrid was shelved for the new S650 model, CEO Jim Farley hinted at its likelihood compared to an all-electric variant. Ford’s recent announcement to introduce hybrid powertrain options across its Ford Blue lineup, including the Mustang, further fuels speculation about an electrified pony car.

Stay tuned to Ford Authority for more updates on the potential Ford Mustang Hybrid AWD model and comprehensive Ford news coverage.
