CATL Unveils Advanced Shenxing Plus EV Battery with Record-Breaking Range

Posted on April 30, 2024April 30, 2024 by thecruisectrlr

CATL, the world’s leading supplier of EV batteries, introduced its groundbreaking Shenxing Plus battery at the Beijing Auto Show. With a remarkable energy density of 205 Wh/kg, this advanced lithium-iron phosphate battery promises an unprecedented range exceeding 621 miles (1,000 km) on the Chinese testing cycle.

The Shenxing Plus battery incorporates innovative features, including a proprietary 3D honeycomb-shaped material in the anode and granular gradation technology, optimizing particle placement for enhanced density. Its single-piece casing ensures durability and safety.

Beyond its impressive range, the Shenxing Plus battery offers ultra-fast charging capabilities. With just 10 minutes of charging, it can provide 373 miles (600 km) of driving range, translating to approximately 0.62 miles (1 km) per second of charge.

Achieving such rapid charging speeds required technological advancements, including a new lithium-ion conductive coating and expanded overcurrent area and terminal capacity for efficient high-current charging.

While CATL has not disclosed a specific timeline for integrating the Shenxing Plus battery into production EVs, the company is already making strides in infrastructure development. CATL has commenced construction of its Shenxing Superfast Charging network, set to become China’s largest superfast charging service. Additionally, a Shenxing supercharging vehicle owners club will offer comprehensive services at over 600 service outlets, including roadside assistance, battery inspections, and maintenance.
