2026 Honda Civic Type R Price Overview

  • Starting MSRP: $48,090 (includes $1,195 destination charge).
  • Price Increase: $1,000 more than the 2025 model ($47,090).
  • Generational Jump: ~$4,000 higher than its 2023 debut price of $44,890.

Key Features & Updates

The 2026 Civic Type R retains its turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, delivering 315 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. Honda made no mechanical or performance updates to justify the price hike.

Post-pandemic inflation and new tariffs on imported vehicles contribute to the rising costs. Honda’s incremental price adjustments reflect a broader industry trend, with no signs of relief for consumers in the near term.

Price Comparison (Civic Type R)

Model Year Price (Inc. Destination) Difference vs. Prior Year
2026 $48,090 +$1,000
2025 $47,090 —

Competitor Landscape

  • Volkswagen Golf R: Starts just over $50,000 (328 hp, AWD).
  • Toyota GR Corolla: Starts at $41,115 (300 hp, AWD).
  • Volkswagen GTI: Cheaper but less powerful alternative.

At nearly $50,000, the Civic Type R joins a crowded segment where AWD rivals like the Golf R and GR Corolla offer compelling value. Its front-wheel-drive setup may deter buyers seeking all-weather performance, but it remains a purist’s choice in an increasingly expensive market.
