Mazda CX-70 PHEV Sees Significant Price Drop and Slightly Improved Electric Range

The 2026 Mazda CX-70 plug-in hybrid SUV has received a significant price cut, making it a more enticing option for buyers. The updated CX-70 PHEV now starts at $44,250, down from $54,400 last year.

Key Updates and Features

  • The CX-70 PHEV produces 323 hp and has a slightly improved 30 miles of electric-only range.
  • The plug-in hybrid model features a 2.5-liter turbo engine, an electric motor, and a 17.8 kWh battery pack.
  • The CX-70 is available in various trim levels, including the 3.3 Turbo Preferred, Turbo Premium, Turbo Premium Plus, Turbo S Premium, and Turbo S Premium Plus.

Mazda’s Mid-Size SUV Strategy

The CX-70 is a two-row interpretation of the CX-90, but sales have been sluggish. Through the first nine months of this year, CX-70 sales reached 12,256 units, representing a 150.7 percent increase from the same period last year. However, this figure is dwarfed by the 44,709 CX-90s sold in the same window.

Pricing and Trim Levels

The 2026 CX-70 3.3 Turbo Preferred starts at $42,250, an increase over the $40,445 from last year. Other trim levels with the 3.3-liter engine have also seen price increases. However, the PHEV models have been significantly discounted, with the PHEV SC starting at $44,250 and the PHEV SC Plus starting at $47,250.

Standard Features and Improvements

All CX-70 models now come standard with gloss black exterior accents. The Turbo Preferred also features ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and eight-way adjustable driver and front passenger seats.

Overall, the updated Mazda CX-70 PHEV offers a compelling combination of power, efficiency, and value, thanks to its significant price cut and slightly improved electric range.
