Toyota Teases New Sports Car Debut
Toyota has released more details about its upcoming announcement, including teaser photos of a billboard at Fuji Speedway. The billboard shows the front end of the new sports car alongside the LFA and 2000GT. The automaker’s X page (formerly Twitter) was used to share the photos.
A teaser website suggests that Toyota will make several announcements across its brands, including GR, Crown, and Daihatsu, on the upcoming Monday in Japan. The website hints at the new sports car’s reveal, stating (translated): “The sign at Fuji Speedway has changed. On the left is the 2000GT. Next to it is the LFA. And next to that…?”
The livestream of the event will be available on the Toyota Times YouTube channel. Toyota has also sent out mysterious tweets showing the billboard at Fuji Speedway with a teaser of its upcoming sports car.
GR GT3 and Lexus LFR
The new sports car is likely to be the GR GT3, which will preview the upcoming Lexus LFR. Toyota Racing President David Wilson previously hinted that the car would make its racing debut at the 2026 Daytona 24 Hours in January. The GR GT3 is expected to arrive before the road-going Lexus equivalent.
Prototypes of the new sports car have been spotted testing with yellow stickers, indicating a hybrid powertrain is likely. The battery pack is likely paired with a V-8 engine.
What’s to Come
Toyota has a lot to announce on Monday, and it remains to be seen what the company has in store. The GR, Daihatsu, and Crown brands are also expected to be part of the announcement. We will have to tune in next week to learn more.
