Tesla Vehicles in Vegas Loop to Go Driverless

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and the Boring Company, has announced that Tesla vehicles operating in the Vegas Loop, an underground tunnel system in Las Vegas, will be going driverless in the next month or two.

The Vegas Loop, which has been in operation for a few years, currently uses Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles to transport passengers to various destinations on the strip. While these vehicles are equipped with Tesla’s Full Self-Driving suite, they are still accompanied by safety drivers.

However, according to Musk, the Boring Company plans to remove safety drivers from the vehicles, making them fully driverless. This move is part of a larger effort to expand the Vegas Loop, which is expected to have over 100 stations and span over 68 miles of tunnel.

This development is in line with Musk’s plans for Tesla’s Robotaxi platform in Austin, Texas, where safety monitors are currently present in the vehicles to ensure a safe experience for riders. Musk has stated that these safety monitors will be removed by the end of the year, with the goal of achieving fully autonomous operation.

The Vegas Loop is currently operational at three resorts: Westgate, the Encore, and Resorts World, with plans to expand to other destinations, including the airport, where Tesla Cybertruck rides are expected to play a crucial role.
