Tesla Vehicles in Vegas Loop to Go Driverless

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and The Boring Company, has announced that Tesla vehicles operating in the Vegas Loop, an underground tunnel system in Las Vegas, will be going driverless in the next month or two.

The Vegas Loop, which has been in operation for a few years, currently uses Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles with safety drivers to transport passengers to various destinations on the strip. The system is expanding to other resorts, hotels, and destinations, with plans to have over 100 stations and span over 68 miles of tunnel.

Removing Safety Drivers

The Boring Company has been working to remove drivers from the vehicles used in the Loop, and Musk has now set a timeline for achieving this goal. In a tweet on October 18, 2025, Musk stated that the Tesla cars operating in the tunnels under Las Vegas will be driverless in a month or two.

This move is part of a larger effort to remove safety monitors from Tesla’s vehicles. In Texas, the Robotaxi platform still has safety monitors in the passenger’s seat, who move to the driver’s seat when the vehicle is on the highway. However, Musk has said that these safety monitors will be removed by the end of the year, with the aim of achieving fully autonomous driving.

Expansion Plans

The Vegas Loop is expected to continue expanding, with plans to connect to the airport in the future. The use of Tesla Cybertruck rides is seen as crucial for this expansion, according to a recent report.

Overall, the move to driverless Tesla vehicles in the Vegas Loop is a significant step towards achieving fully autonomous transportation, and is part of a broader effort by Tesla and The Boring Company to revolutionize the way people move around cities.
