The Future of Mercedes GLS: A Rendered Vision
The next-generation Mercedes GLS is still a few years away, but a recent rendering by Sugar Design has given us a glimpse of what to expect. If the actual car looks anything like this, Mercedes might be onto something.

The rendered GLS takes inspiration from Mercedes’ Vision Iconic concept, boasting a large illuminated LED front grille and smooth proportions. Here are some key features of the rendered SUV:
- Inspired by the Vision Iconic concept
 - Large illuminated LED front grille
 - Smoother proportions than the current GLS
 - Current GLS is due for another facelift before a full redesign arrives in a few years

Concept cars often lean too far into fantasy, but Mercedes’ Vision Iconic concept strikes a balance between modern and retro. While there’s no official word on whether the concept will influence future models, it’s possible that it could shape the design of the next-generation GLS.
The current GLS has been in production since 2019 and was facelifted in 2023. It’s due for another refresh next year, but the changes will likely be relatively small. The rendered image shows a more significant overhaul, with a softer look and luxurious features.
The rendered GLS features:
- A large illuminated LED front grille
 - Small headlights with star-shaped daytime running lights
 - Simple LED taillights
 - An illuminated Mercedes badge
 - A chrome strip running across the bumper

In Maybach form, the rendered GLS looks particularly stunning, finished in a two-tone red and silver paint scheme.

While the design may remind some of the Mazda CX-90, it still looks good. We’re likely a few years away from an all-new GLS generation, but if Mercedes can design a flagship SUV that looks as good as this, it’ll be worth the wait.
