Hyundai’s Next-Generation Tucson Unveiled: A Futuristic SUV with Advanced Tech and Electrified Powertrains
After teasing the world with spy photos of the next-generation Hyundai Tucson, also known as NX5, the final design has been revealed, and it’s generating a lot of buzz. Our colleagues at NYMammoth have created a new rendering that showcases the production model, giving us a glimpse of what’s to come.
A New Design Language for the Tucson
Initially, it was thought that the new Tucson would blend a strong, sculpted design with retro elements inspired by the Hyundai N Vision 74 concept and the Hyundai NEXO. However, the final product takes a different route, introducing a new design language that sets the tone for future Hyundai models.
Inside: A Futuristic Interior with Pleos OS and AI Integration
The 2026 Tucson will revolutionize the in-car experience with the debut of Hyundai’s Pleos OS, an advanced operating system that boasts a clean, smartphone-like interface on a wide 16:9 display. The Pleos Playground store will offer a range of apps, ensuring a fully connected experience for drivers and passengers.
The Tucson will also feature Level 2.5 autonomous driving capabilities, making it smarter and safer. Hyundai’s new AI assistant, “Gleo,” will provide a ChatGPT-like conversational interface, supporting voice commands, navigation, and infotainment tasks with natural interactions.
All-Electric and Hybrid Powertrains: No More Diesel
In line with Hyundai’s sustainability goals, the new Tucson will ditch diesel options in favor of hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. The PHEV variant is expected to deliver an impressive 100km of all-electric driving range, making it perfect for urban commutes and short trips with zero emissions.
Release Date and Estimated Price
Hyundai plans to launch the NX5 Tucson around the third quarter of 2026, possibly alongside the new Avante. With its shift to electrified powertrains, the starting price is expected to be around 34 million won (around US $24,000), assuming a hybrid-only lineup.
