Lando Norris strengthened his grip on the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship after claiming a dominant victory at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. The McLaren driver led from start to finish at Interlagos, mastering multiple Safety Car periods to take his seventh win of the season ahead of Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli, who secured a career-best second place.

Max Verstappen produced a remarkable recovery drive, storming from a pit lane start and overcoming an early puncture to complete the podium in third.

The race was marked by early chaos — Gabriel Bortoleto crashed out on Lap 1, triggering a Safety Car, while Oscar Piastri’s collision with Antonelli and Charles Leclerc brought out a Virtual Safety Car and earned Piastri a 10-second penalty. Despite that, the McLaren driver recovered to finish fifth, just behind George Russell, who fended off late pressure to take fourth.

Further back, Ollie Bearman impressed with sixth for Haas, while the Racing Bulls duo of Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar finished seventh and eighth after a last-lap skirmish deemed a racing incident. Nico Hulkenberg and Pierre Gasly rounded out the top ten.

It was a nightmare day for Ferrari — both Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton retired, leaving the Scuderia point-less. Yuki Tsunoda’s race was also fraught, finishing last after receiving two time penalties.

With this result, Norris further extends his title lead, while Antonelli’s breakthrough drive and Verstappen’s recovery add new intrigue to the championship fight heading into the next round.
