2026 Ford Puma Gen-E: Enhanced Range and Tech for the Electric SUV

Ford’s 2026 Puma Gen-E electric SUV arrives with notable improvements, including an extended driving range that now rivals competitors like the Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica and Jeep Avenger. The updates ensure the compact EV remains a strong contender in Europe’s growing electric market.

Key Upgrades for 2026:

  • Longer Range: WLTP-rated range climbs to 400 km (249 miles), up by 24 km (15 miles). Urban driving range reaches 550 km (342 miles).
  • Optimized Battery: Retains 43 kWh capacity but benefits from improved efficiency.
  • BlueCruise Hands-Free Driving: Optional system enables hands-off highway driving.

The Puma Gen-E’s powertrain remains unchanged, delivering 166 hp (124 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque through its front-mounted electric motor. While its range now matches Stellantis rivals like the Fiat 600e and Peugeot E-2008, it still falls short of the Kia EV3 Long Range’s impressive 604 km (375 miles).

Hands-Free Highway Capability

Debuting in spring 2026, Ford’s BlueCruise system will be available as part of an optional Driver Assistance Pack. Already operational in 16 markets, the feature supports over 135,000 km (84,000 miles) of pre-mapped highways. This tech is also rolling out to the Kuga and Ranger PHEV models.

Design & Interior: Familiar Yet Functional

The 2026 model retains the Gen-E’s grille-less front end and shared styling with its mild-hybrid sibling. Inside, the cabin features a 12.8-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12-inch infotainment screen. Practical touches include the 574-liter (20.3 cu ft) boot and a 43-liter (1.5 cu ft) frunk, complemented by the versatile “Gigabox” underfloor storage.

Pricing & Availability

Order books are now open in the UK, with prices starting at £26,245 ($34,500)—unchanged from the previous model. Buyers may also benefit from updated local EV incentives.

The 2026 Puma Gen-E underscores Ford’s commitment to refining its electric lineup, blending practicality, tech, and competitive range for urban adventurers.
