Rust Concerns Emerge for Tesla Cybertruck Owners, Prompting Early Complaints

Posted on February 14, 2024February 14, 2024 by thecruisectrlr

Tesla Cybertruck owners are raising concerns about rust formation on their stainless steel bodies shortly after taking delivery of the highly anticipated electric truck, despite Tesla’s promises of durability.

Complaints surfaced on cybertruckownersclub.com, with users like Raxar sharing experiences of discovering small flecks of rust after just a couple of days of rain. Similar reports followed, with users like vertigo3pc documenting the issue and seeking solutions from Tesla.

While some speculated about the cause, Tesla’s user manual acknowledges the potential for corrosion on the Cybertruck’s stainless steel panels under certain conditions. It advises owners to promptly remove substances like grease, oil, bird droppings, and road salt to prevent damage.

The swift onset of rust, particularly in California, raises questions about the Cybertruck’s resilience, especially considering CEO Elon Musk’s assurances of its toughness. Concerns persist, especially in regions where road salt is common, suggesting a potential challenge for Cybertruck owners and Tesla’s reputation for durability.
