GM Design’s Shanghai studio has unveiled an electric crossover concept, signaling a sleek, modern direction for future Chevrolet models in China and global markets.

As China solidifies its position as General Motors’ crucial market, the automaker’s Shanghai design team revealed this cutting-edge EV study. Led by designer Charles Huang, the concept showcases a compact crossover silhouette with bold proportions—oversized wheels, a bi-tone paint scheme, and minimalist surfacing.

Key Design Features

The front fascia eliminates traditional grilles in favor of a smooth panel with split LED lighting and a potential luminescent Chevrolet badge. Its most striking element is the wraparound glass roof, framed by a muscular C-pillar that creates dramatic tension against the two-tone exterior.

Production Possibilities

While currently a design exercise, the concept hints at GM’s EV strategy. The dimensions approximate those of Chevrolet’s current Bolt/Tracker models, suggesting it could inspire future affordable electric crossovers. GM confirms multiple budget-friendly EVs are in development, likely adopting similar SUV-inspired forms.
