Nikola Sells Badger Electric Pickup Assets to Embr Motors Amid Founder’s Legal Troubles

Posted on February 23, 2024February 23, 2024 by thecruisectrlr

Amidst legal turmoil and leadership upheaval, Nikola Corporation has sold off its Badger electric pickup truck assets to Embr Motors, a new venture spearheaded by Dave “Heavy D” Sparks of the Diesel Brothers fame. The deal includes the intellectual property linked to the Badger pickup, as well as assets related to Nikola’s abandoned off-road and personal watercraft vehicles.

Originally positioned as a flagship product for Nikola, the Badger’s development was marred by controversy, including allegations of securities fraud against Nikola’s founder, Trevor Milton. With the purchase by Embr Motors, there’s a glimmer of hope for the once-ambitious truck project.

Dave Sparks announced the acquisition in a YouTube video, highlighting the potential to breathe new life into the Badger program. Nikola, confirming the deal, expressed optimism about the partnership, which includes a 30% stake in Embr Motors.

Despite past setbacks and legal battles, Nikola remains focused on its core mission of bringing zero-emission vehicles, particularly electric trucks, to the market.
