Ford is breaking barriers for electric vehicle (EV) customers by granting access to Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. and Canada. This move marks a significant milestone, with Ford F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E retail customers becoming the first outside of Tesla to utilize these fast-charging stations.
A recent Cox Automotive Consumer Sentiment Study revealed that the lack of charging infrastructure ranks as the second most significant obstacle for potential EV buyers, following price concerns. With EV prices on the decline, enhancing access to reliable fast charging is crucial to fostering greater EV adoption.
By leveraging Tesla’s expansive network of over 15,000 Superchargers, Ford effectively doubles the availability of reliable DC fast charging through its BlueOval Charge Network. As a gesture of appreciation, Ford is offering the Fast Charging Adapter at no cost to new and existing retail customers enrolled in the BlueOval Charge Network until June 30, 2024.
Customers ordering the adapter by the specified date will receive it complimentary, while future purchases will be available for $230. Additionally, Ford Pro commercial customers will receive information on how to obtain the adapter this Spring.
With the integration of the BlueOval Charge Network into the FordPass App, accessing and managing charging sessions becomes seamless, streamlining the overall charging experience for customers. Furthermore, Ford is committed to future-proofing its EV lineup by incorporating the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector into upcoming electric vehicles, eliminating the need for adapters when utilizing Tesla Superchargers.
Ford President and CEO, Jim Farley, expressed gratitude towards Tesla for their collaboration, highlighting the significance of this partnership in expanding charging options and enhancing the EV ownership experience.
