Kia is ramping up efforts to enhance the appeal of its latest electric offering, the EV9 SUV, fresh on dealership lots. Effective March 1, the automaker increased customer cash incentives from $3,750 to $5,000, aiming to entice prospective buyers with a more attractive entry-level price of $51,395 (including destination fee).
Additionally, Kia sweetens the deal with a $1,000 loyalty discount on the EV9, potentially further reducing costs for interested shoppers. Coupled with reduced financing rates at 2.49% and adjusted lease prices, the EV9 presents a compelling option for those eyeing eco-friendly SUVs.
Despite Kia’s directive to dealers against imposing markups, some have added up to $7,000 on the SUV’s base price, previously ranging from $54,900 to $73,900 before incentives. The move to bolster discounts aims to maintain competitiveness, especially considering the absence of federal tax credits for both the EV9 and its sibling, the EV6.
While the EV9 has shown promising sales figures, the increased discounts seek to sustain momentum and attract more buyers, aligning with similar strategies adopted by other automakers adjusting to evolving market dynamics. Kia’s forthcoming three-row electric SUV, likely named the Ioniq 9, shares the same platform as the EV9 and is set for an official unveiling in June at the Busan International Motor Show.
