The Affordable Tesla Model Y: Release Imminent?
The tea leaves seem to be pointing towards the imminent release of the highly anticipated affordable Tesla Model Y. Recent observations from notable Tesla influencers on social media, as well as a sighting of the vehicle without camouflage, have sparked excitement among Tesla enthusiasts.
The Affordable Tesla Uncovered
Sightings of the affordable Model Y have been on the rise, and a recent post on X from Firefly engineer Ryan Mable shared images of the vehicle without any coverings. Noted Tesla influencer Sawyer Merritt reportedly spotted the uncovered cheaper Model Y variant driving near Giga Texas. The photos shared by Mable revealed a fascia inspired by the Model 3 sedan, a blacked-out roof, and clean, sleek lines. While the vehicle looked simpler than the standard Model Y, it still exuded a premium feel.
Tesla Influencer Gathering Sparks Speculation
Several Tesla influencers, including Merritt, drone operator Joe Tegtmeyer, teardown specialist Sandy Munro, and reviewers Kyle Conner and Kim Java, posted about their presence at Giga Texas around October 2-3, 2025. The fact that they were gathered at the site without providing any context sparked speculation that Tesla might have invited them for a private unveiling event or teaser.
Pricing Speculations
While the release date of the affordable Model Y remains uncertain, conversations are now centered on its potential price. Previous reports suggested that the car might be priced just below $40,000, although some believe this could result in low sales. Others speculate that the affordable Model Y could be priced below $35,000, which would likely make it a strong seller.
