Alfa Romeo is making a bold move towards electrification, and the Milano stands as an early testament to this transition. This subcompact SUV, set to lead the brand into the electric era, showcases Alfa’s commitment to electrified powertrains. While internal combustion options may exist, the focus remains on electric propulsion.
In terms of design, the Milano embodies classic Alfa Romeo aesthetics with its distinctively curvaceous profile and signature inverted triangle grille. Boomerang-shaped headlights and various grille patterns add to its allure, while the rear pays homage to Alfa’s sports car heritage with a nod to the “kamm tail” of the iconic TZ model.
Compact in size, the Milano measures just over 164 inches long and 70 inches wide, comparable to models like the Kia Soul. Inside, the typical Alfa Romeo flair continues with a well-appointed cabin featuring a 10.25-inch instrument screen and infotainment display, flanked by round air vents for a touch of sophistication.
While full powertrain details are forthcoming, initial offerings include a 156-horsepower single motor for standard versions and a potent 240-horsepower variant for the Veloce model. Both configurations are equipped with a 54-kWh battery pack, promising a respectable WLTP range of 250 miles for the standard model.
The Veloce trim takes performance up a notch with lower ride height, larger wheels, upgraded brakes, and a Torsen limited-slip differential, promising an exhilarating driving experience reminiscent of iconic Abarth models.
While the Milano will be available for order in Europe this summer, Alfa Romeo enthusiasts in the U.S. will have to admire it from afar, as there are currently no plans for its American debut.
