The 2028 A4 e-tron: Audi’s Affordable and High-Tech EV
The 2028 A4 e-tron promises to be an affordable and high-tech EV.

Key Features of the A4 e-tron
- Audi is reportedly gearing up to launch a new A4 e-tron in 2028.
- The model will ride on the all-new SSP platform.
- We can also expect a radical design inspired by the Concept C.
As BMW and Mercedes prepare to launch electric versions of their popular 3-Series and C-Class models, Audi is set to fill the gap in its lineup with the A4 e-tron. The new model will revive the classic moniker and usher in a new platform and bold new look.
New Underpinnings
According to Autocar, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner confirmed that the A4 e-tron will ride on the Scalable Systems Platform (SSP), which will also be used on several other Volkswagen Group vehicles. The SSP platform is expected to be more advanced than the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture used in the Porsche Macan Electric and the A6 and Q6 e-trons.
The A4 e-tron could also be the first Audi to use software developed in partnership with Rivian, paving the way for “software-defined vehicles” that become “more intelligent, more sustainable, and more enjoyable over time.” Döllner revealed that the company is working intensively with Rivian to develop the software, with the first cars already on their way.
Design and Features
The A4 e-tron is expected to adopt the new ‘Audi brand face,’ featuring a minimalist front fascia with a rectangular grille and slender four-element headlights. Döllner also suggested that the car will have fewer virtual buttons and more dedicated switchgear, giving customers what they want.

Döllner’s comments suggest that Audi is committed to making the A4 e-tron a significant improvement over its predecessors. With its new platform, bold design, and advanced software, the A4 e-tron is shaping up to be a major player in the EV market.
