Ford Recalls Over 112,000 F-150 Trucks for Axle Hub Bolt Issue

Posted on January 5, 2024January 5, 2024 by thecruisectrlr

Ford has issued a widespread recall affecting 112,965 units of its 2021-2023 F-150 trucks with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy-duty axle. The recall, submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, cites concerns about the rear axle hub bolt breaking due to fatigue. If this occurs, it may lead to premature wear of the hub splines, potentially causing a loss of torque transfer to the wheels and unintended vehicle movement while in park if the parking brake is not applied. Ford plans to inform dealers about the recall on January 16 and will send notification letters to affected customers between January 29 and February 2, advising them to visit a local Ford or Lincoln dealership for an interim repair while a permanent solution is developed.
