Ferrari Unveils its First Electric Vehicle: The Elettrica

Ferrari has revealed the technology behind its first-ever electric vehicle, the Elettrica, a significant milestone for the luxury sports car brand. The production-ready chassis, showcased at Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters, features an integrated battery and motor setup. The full car is expected to make its world debut next year.

The four-door, four-seat Elettrica is set to deliver impressive performance, reaching speeds of 310 km/h (193 mph) and offering a range of at least 530 km. The vehicle will also feature a custom sound system that amplifies the vibrations of its powertrain to create a unique “electric Ferrari” sound.

Ferrari is developing its electric motors and battery pack in-house, building on the active suspension technology first seen in the Ferrari Purosangue and the company’s newest supercar, the F80.

Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna emphasized that the Elettrica is an “addition, not a transition,” highlighting the company’s cautious approach to electrification compared to rivals like Porsche and Lamborghini. Ferrari has revised its target for electric vehicles, aiming for 20% of its lineup to be fully electric by 2030, down from its previous 40% target.

The Elettrica, priced at €500,000 ($580,000), will feature 75% recycled aluminum, a low-mounted battery for improved handling, and fast-charging capability. Ferrari is positioning the Elettrica for a new generation of affluent buyers seeking sustainable luxury that still delivers on performance.
