Kia’s latest electric endeavor, the EV9, is making waves in the US automotive market, surpassing the EV6 in sales with over 1,400 units delivered in January. The surge in Kia’s electric vehicle (EV) sales, which saw a 57% year-over-year growth, can be largely attributed to the introduction of the EV9, Kia’s first three-row electric SUV.
Despite the record-breaking sales of the EV6, with 1,213 units sold in January, the EV9 has quickly emerged as a frontrunner as Kia expands its presence in diverse vehicle segments. Eric Watson, vice president of sales at Kia America, expressed optimism for the brand’s trajectory in 2024, with plans for further vehicle innovations and expansions.
Praised for its spacious interior, “true SUV capabilities,” and competitive pricing starting at $54,900, the EV9 boasts impressive features, including seating for up to seven passengers, ample cargo room, and up to 304 miles of EPA range. Additionally, with fast-charging capabilities of up to 350 kW, the EV9 offers swift charging times, making it a practical choice for electric vehicle enthusiasts.
Available in five trims, ranging from the base Light RWD to the premium GT-Line e-AWD, the EV9 caters to a diverse range of preferences and needs. With production set to transition to Kia’s West Point, GA, plant, the EV9 is poised to leverage federal tax credits, further enhancing its affordability and accessibility in the electric SUV market.
Kia’s strategic approach, coupled with the EV9’s exceptional features and competitive pricing, positions the electric SUV for continued success and growth in 2024 and beyond.
