Lamborghini has reiterated its commitment to electrification with the announcement of its first electric vehicle (EV) launch by 2028, followed closely by an “electric Super SUV” in 2029, according to the automaker’s recent business update.
The timeline aligns with Lamborghini’s previous statements made during the unveiling of the Lanzador concept at the 2023 Monterey Car Week last August. The production EV, inspired by the Lanzador concept, is set to feature a high-riding coupe design with 2+2 seating, reminiscent of the iconic Espada model. Anticipated to offer a range of 300 miles and spacious rear seating, the EV marks a significant milestone as Lamborghini’s first foray into electric mobility.
While the official name for the production model remains undisclosed, the electric GT will introduce a new model line alongside Lamborghini’s existing supercar and SUV offerings.
In addition to their EV ventures, Lamborghini plans to introduce plug-in hybrid versions of the Urus and the Huracán later this year, following the success of the Revuelto plug-in hybrid introduced in 2023 as a replacement for the Aventador. This strategic move positions Lamborghini for an all-plug-in-hybrid lineup, catering to evolving market demands while maintaining their signature performance and luxury.
Looking ahead, Lamborghini remains committed to reducing emissions across its lineup, targeting a 40% reduction per vehicle produced by 2030. While the transition to electrification progresses, traditional combustion engine supercars will be phased out gradually, ensuring a seamless shift towards sustainable mobility solutions.
As Lamborghini charts its electrification roadmap, enthusiasts await eagerly for the arrival of their electrified fleet, signaling a new era of performance-driven innovation in the automotive industry.
