Lucid Motors Reports Record EV Production in 2025 Amid Industry Challenges
Lucid Motors announced record-breaking production and delivery numbers for both the fourth quarter and full year of 2025, signaling progress despite a tough market for electric vehicles.
Key Highlights:
- Annual Production Doubles: Lucid manufactured 18,378 vehicles in 2025, more than double its 2024 output of 9,029 units.
- Strong Q4 Growth: Production surged to 8,412 vehicles in Q4—a 116% increase over Q3—while deliveries rose 31% to 5,345 EVs, despite the expiration of U.S. federal EV tax credits in September.
- Full-Year Deliveries: The company delivered 15,841 vehicles in 2025, falling just short of its initial 20,000-unit goal but meeting its revised target of 18,000.
Overcoming Challenges
Lucid’s growth comes amid supply chain hurdles, particularly for its new Gravity SUV. Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff acknowledged slower-than-expected Gravity production due in part to China’s export ban on permanent-magnet motors. However, output accelerated toward year-end, suggesting easing bottlenecks.
The Gravity SUV, positioned as Lucid’s volume seller, is critical until the arrival of its more affordable “Project Midsize” EV—a $48,000 Tesla Model Y competitor—slated for late 2025.
What’s Next?
Investors await further updates on Gravity production and Project Midsize during Lucid’s earnings call on February 24. While the company remains a minor player in the broader EV market, its year-end momentum hints at expanding manufacturing capabilities.
