Nissan Xterra Revival: Two SEMA Concepts Unveiled
The Nissan Xterra is making a comeback with two fresh builds for the 2025 SEMA show. Both off-road-focused concepts have been approved by Nissan and Nismo, and they blend parts from newer models with added off-road gear.
Key Highlights
- Nissan Xterra returns with two new builds for SEMA 2025
- Both concepts are off-road-focused and approved by Nissan and Nismo
- They combine parts from newer models with added off-road capabilities
The builds are the brainchild of Nick Raymond Scherr, a Nissan enthusiast and video creator who works at Avondale Nissan in Arizona. One of the builds is powered by Nissan’s VK56 5.6-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transmission, making for an engaging drive.
A Modern Take on a Classic
The Xterra concepts are not simple restorations; they’re full-on mashups of Nissan’s off-road heritage. They incorporate elements from the second-gen Xterra, third-gen Pathfinder, and current Frontier. The sketches show a burly SUV with Frontier-style headlights, grille, and taillights for a more updated appearance.
Off-Road Capabilities
Both builds will feature roof racks, off-road bumpers, rock rails, and tire carriers. They’ll also have modernized interiors with the latest technology, with one having a standard two-row setup and the other a three-row seating layout. The SUVs will ride on a proper ladder-frame chassis and come equipped with 4WD, along with contemporary off-road tech and some Nismo hardware.
Power and Performance
One version will pack Nissan’s 3.8-liter V6, while the other will feature a rumbling V8, providing plenty of drama and presence. Scherr will be documenting the build process on his Instagram page, where fans can follow along as the project takes shape.
Official Support
While these are fan-built concepts, they’ve received official support from Nissan North America and Nismo, lending some extra legitimacy to the project. We’ll update this story as more details come to light ahead of the SEMA reveal later this year.
