Panasonic postpones plans for a third North American battery plant due to a slowdown in electric vehicle demand. The decision follows the rejection of $700 million state incentives for a location in Oklahoma. The company aims to raise its production capacity to 200 GWh by 2031. Currently building a factory in Kansas, Panasonic eyes productivity improvement before considering a new location. The delay comes as Panasonic’s main customer, Tesla, experiences changes in battery production plans and a shift towards improved energy density.
