Tesla has made another strategic move in Texas with the acquisition of a 35,000-square-foot building in Hutto, located approximately 25 miles north of its Gigafactory in Austin. The electric vehicle giant plans to invest at least $1.5 million in renovating the building, situated near Samsung’s Semiconductor factory. While Tesla has not disclosed the specific purpose for the facility, it confirmed the acquisition and intends to commence renovations this month, subject to permitting approvals.
The City of Hutto will share Tesla’s intentions for the building after approving permits and completing the final inspection process. The 35,000-square-foot size suggests it may serve as a Service Center, similar to Tesla’s facilities in other locations. Additionally, Tesla recently announced plans to offer vehicle wrapping services for models like the Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck. With the proximity to the Austin Gigafactory, the new building could potentially be geared toward vehicle wrapping operations.
Hutto has emerged as an attractive location for tech companies, undergoing transformation from a small, rural town to a hub for innovation. With Samsung’s presence nearby, Tesla’s expansion in the area is expected to bring economic benefits, providing employment opportunities and contributing to the local economy. As Tesla continues to solidify its footprint in Texas, the new facility in Hutto adds to the company’s growing infrastructure in the region.
