Tesla Model Y Reclaims Top Spot in European EV Sales

The Tesla Model Y has regained its position as the best-selling electric vehicle in Europe, outpacing its competitors in a highly competitive market. Despite facing stiff competition from domestic car companies offering affordable EVs, the Model Y emerged as the top-selling car in Europe in September.

With 25,938 sales in September, the Model Y secured the top spot, although its sales were down 8.6% compared to the same month in 2024. According to Automotive News, this achievement marked the Model Y’s first monthly sales crown of the year.

The Model Y’s success in Europe is notable, given the presence of strong competitors such as the Renault Clio, Dacia Sandero, and Volkswagen T-Roc, which have also topped the EV sales charts in Europe this year. In September, the Clio took the second spot with 20,146 sales.

While the Model Y has not been a consistent top-three performer in Europe this year, it is still expected to be one of the best-selling vehicles globally, if not the best. The model has dominated EV sales charts in the United States and has been a popular choice in China due to its premium features and tech offerings.

The Model Y has been the best-selling car globally for the past two years, surpassing popular gas and EV models from around the world. Tesla’s recent quarterly sales performance was also impressive, with the company delivering nearly half a million vehicles between July and September, marking its best three-month sales period in history.
