Tesla Provides Update on Highly Anticipated Roadster
Tesla has finally given fans an update on its plans for the highly anticipated Roadster, confirming that the “most epic demo” is still on track for later this year.
The Roadster, one of the most eagerly awaited automotive releases in the industry, was initially set to debut in 2020. However, Tesla’s focus on scaling up the Model Y and developing autonomy features pushed the project to the backburner.
In recent years, Tesla executives, including Elon Musk and Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, have teased the Roadster’s capabilities and hinted at potential release dates, only to delay them. Last year, Musk decided to further improve the vehicle, delaying the project once again.
Recently, on the Ride the Lightning podcast, Franz von Holzhausen provided an update on the Roadster, confirming that the demo is still planned for 2025. He also teased some new features, including new paint options, and hinted at the vehicle’s impressive capabilities, stating that it “seems to test the limits of physics.” Von Holzhausen expressed his excitement to showcase the Roadster, saying, “The wait will be worth it.”
While the Roadster is not a crucial component of Tesla’s mission, which is heavily focused on artificial intelligence and autonomy, the company has a significant number of customers who have placed $250,000 downpayments on the vehicle.
Tesla has not yet announced a specific date for the Roadster demo, but based on Franz von Holzhausen’s interview, it appears that the company is still on track to host it by the end of the year.
