TVR Revival: British Sports Car Maker Acquired by Charge Holdings
TVR, the British sports car maker that has refused to die, has a new owner. Charge Holdings, the company behind the electric restomod Ford Mustang, has reportedly acquired the TVR name. This is the latest attempt to revive the brand, less than a decade after businessman Les Edgar’s failed attempt to bring TVR back to life.
Electrified Powertrain for the Griffith
According to multiple reports, Charge Holdings plans to produce and sell the striking Griffith concept unveiled in 2022. As part of a “multi-phased restructuring,” the company will replace the concept’s original 5.0-liter V8 engine with an “electrified” powertrain. Charge Holdings stated that “TVR will remain focused on delivering the new Griffith to customers, continuing its legacy of high-performance, internal combustion sports cars.” However, it is likely that the production version will feature an electric or hybrid powertrain instead of the original V8.
More Information to Come
Details are still scarce, but CEO Paul Abercrombie promises that more information will be revealed early next year. If the new ownership sticks to their plans, the long-awaited Griffith revival may finally make it to production.
